INTRODUCTION
about The Author
The author’s interest in photography began when she received a Brownie camera at age seven with which she proudly made black and white film photos. Later she developed the film and printed her photos in the family closet temporarily converted for a day to a dark room. She also immersed herself in another childhood interest, reading about and identifying birds. In 2011 she purchased her first telephoto lens for her Nikon camera with which she blended the two passions for birds and photography. With years of practice and reading she extended her teaching career at Presbyterian College by teaching courses in Ornithology at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Photographs taken by her today capture the grace and beauty of birds in motion. The author’s life’s work even extended to a series of books of her bird photographs, providing a glimpse of her one-of-a kind perspective of these winged companions for fellow enthusiasts.
